2021-10-25. Philippe Campeau:Tricky! First, while the steppe (Asian in our book, palludirostris) and the great grey shrike (homeri in our region) are divided on this site, they are now considered as subspecies by the Cornell lab. Your photo show little black in the mask, especially in front of the eye (sign of Asian), but also extensive white on wings and in what looks like the base of the secondaries (a sure sign of a homeri). Do you have more photos that show the wings by any chance? Either way, nice find! 2021-10-25. Machiel Valkenburg: Hi Philippe, 2021-10-25. Pjotr Trommel: Hi Guys, I added two more to see more of the wings 2021-10-27. Philippe Campeau: Thank you both for the info and photos... Again, the third photo shows a lot more white on the wing than I would expect from apallidirostris, but that's as far as I'm willing to go!
